Nelda Luce Blair Files to Stay on

The Woodlands Township Board;

Seeks Position #5 in May 2011

The Woodlands Township Board member, and current Chairman of The Woodlands Convention & Visitors Bureau, Nelda Luce Blair, has filed as a candidate to remain on the Township Board.  Nelda seeks Township Director Position #5 in the May 14, 2011 election.  “Having served as Township Chairman of the Board during the previous 3 years of unprecedented transition into one government and exponential growth, I am very proud of the Township’s evolution and accomplishments,” says Nelda.  “As a community, we value the importance of keeping our quality of life high, our taxes low, and the residential, business and tourism components in balance.”

First appointed to the former Town Center Improvement District in 1996, then elected in The Woodlands at large in 2008, Nelda holds the unique distinction of having extensive governmental experience, as well as business education and know-how.  Nelda also serves on the University of Houston Board of Regents, in the position of Vice Chairman.  She is President of the Conroe ISD Education Foundation, and a Chancellor’s Advisory Council member for the Lone Star College System. Nelda is the chairman’s appointee to the Board of Directors of The Woodlands Chamber of Commerce, and serves in various capacities in numerous clubs and organizations.  For over 25 years, Nelda Blair, a Texas Board Certified attorney, has owned and managed The Blair Law Firm, P. C. in The Woodlands.  She and her husband, Jim Blair, are residents of the Village of Grogan’s Mill, and active members of First Baptist Church of The Woodlands.

“Over the years, I have been blessed with extensive and diverse opportunities and involvements,” explains Nelda. “So, I have enjoyed a myriad of perspectives from many different citizens.  From animal lovers to teachers, from company presidents to parents, I encounter people of all types who love The Woodlands like I do.  I hear a great variety of views and ideas, all of which provide me with direction and innovative ideas for our community.”

Nelda Luce Blair graduated from Conroe High School, Baylor University and the University of Houston Law Center. She has been named a “Hometown Hero” of The Woodlands, as well as one of “Houston’s 50 Most Influential Women of 2009” by Houston Woman magazine, and as “Citizen of the Year 2009” by the Greater Houston Women’s Chamber.

Nelda summarizes: “The future of our Township is bright!  I will continue to provide the leadership, nuturing, attention and dedicated effort to see that we reach our greatest potential.”
